Accurately performs moderately complex laboratory testing including Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, and Microbiology using a variety of examination and analytical methods on materials derived from the human body for purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment in the assessment of the health of patients of all ages/developmental stages from newborns to geriatrics. Reports results which are substantiated by proper use of appropriate quality control systems. Actively contributes to Performance Improvement activities and participates in proficiency testing.


Minimum of a high school education is required for this role.

Education and training to meet California requirements for Medical Laboratory Technician. Computer skills, typing, customer service skills, telephone skills, and oral communication skills.

Special Requirements

Associate degree. Excellent communication skills and phone manners. Computer literacy and ability to type 40 wpm, organizational skills with ability to pay attention to details, ability to work with the general public with both healthy and debilitated conditions in a congenial manner. The MLT has daily contact with patients, nursing staff, and other hospital personnel and doctors. Needs to work well under the supervision of a CLS. This position must maintain open and positive communications with fellow employees, nursing, doctors, and supervisor. Be highly motivated.
