Novato Community Hospital is a 47-bed acute-care hospital located approximately 30 miles north of San Francisco. It is a part of the Sutter Health network of doctors, not-for-profit hospitals and other health care service providers sharing resources and expertise to advance health care quality and access in the more than 100 Northern California cities and communities.

Assumes responsibility for the performance of most routine procedures offered by the laboratory. Maintains the highest test accuracy and reproducibility consistent with needs of the hospital medical staff. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the overall efficiency of the laboratory. Assumes responsibility for specimen procurement, processing, and distribution. This position is responsible for own personal professional development to maintain skills and licensing requirements.


BA or BS degree with equivalent classroom work acceptable to CA State Department of Public Health qualifying for exam and licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist; minimum of completed pre-licensure training in DPH accredited training program; current CA license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist; post-licensure experience in acute care hospital lab. Possess BLS-HS (Basic Life Support-Heart Saver) Certificate within 90 days of hire and maintain certification as required by hospital policy.
