Sutter Health Senior Data Analyst - Integrated Quality Services (Full Time - Days) in Sacramento, California

The IQS Data Analyst Senior is responsible for providing analytical and reporting expertise for SMF quality programs and initiatives, focusing on performance measurement and quality improvement. This position will work with both internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the needs for data analysis and reporting. The IQS Data Analyst Senior will design, plan, gather, analyze, interpret and report clinical and administrative data to identify opportunities to improve the quality and cost of healthcare services within the organization. The IQS Data Analyst Senior should understand business processes, data entities, data producers, consumers and data dependencies between various departments and foundations. The position requires significant capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to communicate information clearly to management and end users. The IQS Data Analyst Senior must be flexible and comfortable dealing with the ambiguity of working in a matrix environment with various work teams, providing support, expertise and guidance to ensure that the strategic initiatives of SMF’s population health and quality initiatives are achieved.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Informatics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration Required

  • MA/MSHealthcare Informatics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration Preferred

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of query scripting, data analysis and modeling, and reporting (e.g., Crystal Reports).

  • 5 years or more of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes, and costs of care.

  • Extensive experience with data extraction, and validation, experience with transactional systems.

  • Demonstrated experience working with operational and technical stakeholders to understand and document the business and technical use of data and data assets to best meet organizational objectives.

Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of ambulatory care delivery, ancillary, support and financial processes.

  • Working knowledge of NCQA, IHA, HEDIS, and local and national standards related to quality performance and measurement.

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and/or other process improvement methodologies and tools.

  • Thorough understanding of ET-SQL, developing tables, views, stored procedures, triggers and constraints in a MS SQL Server setting.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Epic data and Epic Workbench/Clarity Reporting highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of SQL Server, SQL, DTS, SSIS, reporting solutions, MS Access, and MS Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues at different levels of the business.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and able to communicate complex technical issues in terms clearly understood by Information Services (IS) and non-IS practitioners.

  • Ability to quantitatively analyze data errors/issues/problems, determine cause and initiate corrective action when necessary.

  • Well-developed skills in using database query tools and reporting software.

  • Ability to understand user and technical application documentation.

  • Ability to work with minimal direction and oversight, and to be flexible in responding to rapid change.

  • Is resourceful and proactive; can analyze, organize and coordinate multiple assignments effectively, accurately and with unyielding attention to detail with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment and in the face of multiple pressures, including frequently changing workload.

  • Proficient with a variety of computer and software applications demonstrating advanced skills in MS Assess, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

  • Proven business writing, grammatical, proofreading and editing skills sufficient to be able to write manuals and draft various communications across a wide range of audiences.

Solid customer support and service skills.
