Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF)is a non-profit, multi-specialty health care organization affiliated with Sutter Health. Based in Modesto, SGMF provides quality medical care, health education and research activities in a five-county area. SGMF's medical staff includes family practitioners, internists and pediatricians, as well as a range of specialist physicians. Services include imaging, nuclear medicine, a health library, health education programs, occupational medicine, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, infertility counseling, and weight management.

This position provides nursing, clinical and clerical administrative direction to the Care Center. The RN Section Supervisor directs and coordinates all clinical and clerical activities, resources and personnel. The RN Section Supervisor provides Lean Leadership and leads facility team members in providing optimal patient care and efficient patient flow, taking into consideration the population specific needs for patients at all stages of life.

RN Section Supervisor job responsibilities also include: Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients and families, performs RN duties on a as needed basis. Assures quality of care by developing, teaching and promoting adherence to standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements (As defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice) and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; and recommending adjustments.


  • Education:

  • High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in business or nursing required or an equivalent combination of education and pertinent/directly related experience (4 years).

  • Current California Registered Nurse License required

  • Valid BLS / ACLS certificate

  • Experience:

  • A minimum of two years clinical RN experience

  • Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience preferred

  • Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of medical office workflows and processes.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of computers and their applications.

  • Knowledge of electronic medical records.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

  • Special Skills/Equipment:

  • Proven leadership skills are required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language are required.

  • The ability to motivate and train adults.

  • The ability to deal effectively with all customers including physicians and difficult customer service issues.

  • The ability to accept, implement and evaluate change.

  • The ability to keep information confidential.

  • Organizational skills are important for this position.
