Sutter Health Research Program Manager, STRIVE Study in Walnut Creek, California

The Research, Development and Dissemination (RDD) Department is focused on making the best and most affordable care the easiest care to deliver through means that are personalized, efficient, accessible and that can be readily disseminated to the entire Sutter system and through industry partnerships to the broader market.

/The purpose of the STRIVE Study is to evaluate a blood test as an additional tool for screening for breast cancer. This blood test looks for small pieces of DNA (genetic material) released into the blood by tumors. Routine breast cancer screening is important because the earlier that breast cancer can be found, the higher the chance of survival. Mammograms detect many early breast cancers and save many lives. More tools are needed in order to detect all breast cancers early. This study will look at whether a blood test can enhance the detection of early breast cancers.

The study is asking 120,000 women to provide a blood sample at the same visit as their regular screening mammogram, or at another convenient time within 28 days of their mammogram appointment. Participants will also be asked to complete a 20-minute questionnaire about their health.

Information about the participants’ medical care will be collected for up to 5 years. After that their health status will be followed indirectly by linking participants’ information with state and national health databases to learn if they develop cancer and if so, whether their blood sample held any clues./

The RDD Program Manager is responsible for the efficient execution of initiatives, including traditional project management tasks (such as setting timelines, assigning and monitoring resources, coordinating meetings with stakeholders, and managing the project budget) and program delivery tasks. The latter can vary dramatically based on the initiative but the Program Manager directs support staff in their day-to-day activities and is expected to bring content knowledge to the execution of tasks (i.e., participating in the successful execution of an initiative including proposal writing, specifications development, drafting white papers and final reports, creating presentation materials, etc.). The Program Manager is also responsible for supervision of direct reports that may provide administrative, research and/or technical support for various initiatives.

RDD works with system leaders to identify and prioritize clinical and operational challenges and then integrates rigorous research methods and product development principles to develop innovative and scalable solutions to address these challenges. Our solutions are designed to create value in health care through the application of analytics, new technologies, innovative program design, optimized workflows, and software applications. To achieve this, RDD collaborates with health care innovators, clinician thought leaders, entrepreneurs and technology partners throughout Sutter Health and the broader healthcare marketplace. In the process of developing, testing, evaluating and/or implementing innovative health care solutions, RDD leads an array of ground-breaking initiatives in research, product development, and dissemination.
