Sutter Health Facilities Technician - LIMITED TERM in West Sacramento, California

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs basic duties required to operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and systems within and throughout facility buildings and grounds.

Principal Accountabilities

Completes department forms for operations, maintenance and emergency response activity to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as DSH, TJC (The Joint Commission), Local and State Fire Marshal.

Interprets basic blueprint information and refers to technical manuals and other documentation to perform basic troubleshooting and basic operational repairs on mechanical and electrical systems to include but not limited to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, boiler and steam systems, normal and emergency power distribution equipment, switches, outlets, mechanical systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, nurse call, fire protection and detection systems, security systems and other equipment and systems.

Continuously checks for integrity of systems and equipment, initiating repairs as needed.

Responds to and assists with basic emergency condition response and recovery operations on mechanical and electrical systems to include but not limited to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, boiler and steam systems, normal and emergency power distribution equipment, mechanical systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, nurse call, fire protection and detection systems, security systems and other equipment and systems.

Schedules and completes basic preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems to include but not limited to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, boiler and steam systems, normal and emergency power distribution equipment, switches, outlets, mechanical systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, nurse call, fire protection and detection systems, security systems and other equipment and systems.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration

High school graduate or equivalent. AS degree in mechanical, electrical technology or equivalent education is preferred.

Must have a valid CA driver's license and be insurable per SH Risk Management.

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of stationary and portable shop tools is required. Understanding of refrigeration, hydraulics, computers, and basic electrical test equipment is desired. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals is desired.

Knowledge of general building structure maintenace (plumbing, sheet rock) highly desired.

Experience

Prefer prior experience with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems. Prefer health care facility e xperience.

Skills

Works with electrical, mechanical and other complex systems. Must be able to work safely and complete tasks without supervision. Ability to replace and repair ballasts and flourescent tubes preferred.
