Sutter Health Clinical Educator Generalist Full Time Day Evening Shift in Antioch, California

Develops programs designed to enrich skills or meet identified goals and educational needs in all hospital departments. Collaborates with department managers regarding development and evaluation of staff competency assessments; and serves as a resource for department based preceptors/mentors. Manages and administers the successful implementation of assigned projects as defined by Sutter Health needs. Assists in the development and implementation of computer based clinical educational programs and required documentation. Plays a key role in process improvement and LEAN projects by performing operational assessments and analyses. Research and identify best practices, facilitating groups and teams, managing projects, presenting results and recommendation and developing measurement tools to improve operating processes toward greater efficiency and effectiveness. Works as part of the Education team in the development of educational programs. Assist and administer regulatory competency Program development with an assessment and evaluation process. Collaborates with and supports Managers/Directors in the development of patient care standards. Participates in the preparation of manuals, guides, policies and other materials contributing to improving clinical performance, updating staff instruction, and the maintenance of patient care standards. Develops and evaluates instructional material for use in educational programs, both staff and patient/family education. Serves as a clinical consultant to patient care staff, physicians and other ancillary staff as appropriate. Instructs in programs within areas of expertise. Collaborates with Sutter Health educators, community educators, educators from other healthcare agencies, and educational service agencies to share and coordinate educational offerings. Ensures that competencies throughout the medical center meet the regulatory needs and standards.

Qualifications

  • Education, Certifications, Licensure

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN) required

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required

  • Masters preferred

  • Registered Nurse - State Licensure - RN required

  • Basic Life Support Certification - BLS (upon hire) required

  • Basic Life Support Certification - BLS -I Instructor Certification (within 1.5 years of hire) required

  • Pediatric Adv Life Support - PALS (upon hire) required

  • Pediatric Adv Life Support - PALS -I Instructor Certification (within 1.5 years of hire) required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS (upon hire) required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS-I Instructor Certification (within 1.5 years of hire) required Experience:

  • 4 years of recent nursing experience required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of education theory and practice

  • Ability to read, writes, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions

  • Knowledge of and experience with Simulation training techniques and learning labs

  • Knowledge of and experience with e-learning platforms, Healthstream is preferable

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, EPIC and OpTime preferred.

  • Demonstrated oral and written skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with hospital staff, physicians, and outside agencies

  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of word-processing, presentation & spreadsheet software, contribution to OR Dashboard

  • Must have effective problem solving skills and ability to concentrate on multiple and varied tasks meeting deadlines

  • Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision and effectively establish work priorities while receiving work from more than one person

  • Works closely with business and clinical operations to obtain or create workflow documentation of current application use

  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with Simulation training techniques and learning labs

  • Knowledge of and experience with e-learning platforms, Healthstream is preferable

  • Responsible for ensuring data integrity through periodic audits and reviewing/revising policies and procedures in the use of supplied system software

  • Assumes responsibility for own professional development

  • Communicates status of key issues on a regular basis to management

  • Assists with or conduct training sessions as required for health care providers and customers

  • Attends training sessions and learns how to use other software applications in order to actively and effectively use those applications during interface and integration testing

  • Continues to increase knowledge base as the product functionality is changed or enhanced, through attendance of appropriate application and technical training sessions

  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Manager
