Sutter Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist Part Time Day Shift in Antioch, California

Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist coordinates and performs quality diagnostic procedures in the specialty of Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. The NM technologist must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the following: radiation safety principles, anatomy/physiology, chemistry, physics and instrumentation, mathematics, medical terminology and pharmacology, venipuncture, safe patient transfer and positioning techniques, and ethical and professional conduct. The NM technologist prepares, administers and documents activities related to radioactive isotopes and adjunct medications. The incumbent is responsible for the operation of a variety of equipment used to image, post-process, and document the anatomy. The NM Technologist ensures accurate documentation, effective communications and demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate criteria when working with all patients, which include high risk and critically ill patients. Responsible for accurate charge capture.

Population served includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatrics.

Qualifications

Education, Licensures and Certifications:

Graduation from accredited approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology - Required

Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech - NMT - Required

Basic Life Support Certification - BLS - Required

Experience within a hospital environment - Required

Skills and Knowledge:

Complete understanding of Nuclear Medicine methodology, equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, basic radiation physics/biology, computer skills, human anatomy and physiology required.

Must have basic knowledge of NM dedicated computer systems and a working knowledge of PC systems.

Ability to work independently.

Must be able to communicate and deal effectively and professionally with our customers (i.e., physicians, employees, patients, general public).
