POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides functional guidance to staff and new hires. Monitors status of assigned areas.Maintains a clean, attractive and safe environment by performing appropriate cleaning duties. Performs patient transportation and or lift services. May transport monitored telemetry patients if the BCM class is taken and passed and the required training provided by Nursing education is completed. Assists nursing with dressing changes and transports deceased patients to the morgue. Performs general security work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of Sutter Health and applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents.

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School diploma orequivalent is required.

  • Must have a currentAmerican Heart Association BLS-C or Greater Sacramento Region Healthcare CPRcertification.

  • BCM certification totransport monitored patients is preferred.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in apatient care setting is required.

  • Security backgroundand/or healthcare environment preferred.

  • Prior experience as anEVS technician and/or patient escort in a healthcare setting is required.

  • Leadership experience ispreferred.

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Must have knowledge ofproper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, and safe operation of aVariety of lifting, moving, and transporting equipment.

  • If BCM certified must beable to interpret rhythm strips accurately.

  • Knowledge of healthcareequipment and cleaning chemicals is required.

  • Physical and emotionalmaturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary towork efficiently in a healthcare environment.

  • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimalsupervision.

  • Must be able to handlemultiple requests and prioritize.

  • Monitor techtransporters must be able to recognize and interpret EKG strips and respondappropriately if there is a problem.

  • Lift team must be ableto assist with bariatric patient dressing changes that can require them to holda patient in the same position for over an hour.
