Responsible for the delivery of patient care, professional practice and daily operations at the assigned unit. The Assistant Nurse Manager will ensure the highest standards of Quality & Safety through implementation of programs that promote highly reliable teams and systems, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement and efficiency. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for supporting and implementing the operational plans related to the pillars of Service Excellence, Quality, and People, Finance, Growth and Community. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for performance improvement, staff selection, supervision, managing daily room assignments, staff competency, skill development activities, and fiscal accountability to operate within budget. The Assistant Nurse Manager will participate in interdisciplinary teams to plan, implement and facilitate systems and programs in the delivery of patient care across the continuum.

  • Ensures and maintains the implementation of the plan for performance improvement to promote nursing professional practice that improves patient care outcomes.

  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.

  • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Assists in recruitment, selection, orientation and training staff to maintain staffing levels.

  • Ensures patient care requirements are met by scheduling and assigning staff to meet patient care flow.

Promotes the integration of the voice of patients (VOP) and other customers in system redesign and standard work processes.

  • Provides information to patients and health care teams by answering questions and requests; ensures timely follow-up to resolve problems.

  • Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.

Operates department within budget and ensures staff are fiscally responsible with cost center expenses.

  • Ensures balanced scheduling to optimize personnel budget and minimize the use of overtime or double-time.

  • Manages staff to optimize productivity as well as compliance with policy, procedure, regulations and standards.

Qualifications

CA RN License

BSN

Minimum 2 years experience in the clinical specialty plus at least 3 years of charge RN experience in that specialty.

Certification in specialty area preferred. ACLS, BLS required. PALs may be required depending on specialty area.

Demonstrated leadership, management and solid interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Progressive experience in fostering interdisciplinary collegial relationships.

Ability to precept and mentor other staff members.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point
