Sutter Health Surgical Clinical Nurse Reviewer, Quality Improvement in Burlingame, California
Works under the direction of the Quality Improvement Director/Manager to carry out medical record review and abstracting functions for national registry procedures and/or core measure diagnoses. Initiates or follows the requests for quality review, which may include both clinical and operational performance improvement. The Clinical Nurse Reviewer is responsible for verification and documentation of clinical data and adverse outcomes and works with MDs and RNs to clarify, verify, and document clinical data and outcomes for registry, coding, and/or quality improvement purposes. Must carry out work functions in an organized manner in order to meet defined deadlines. The position requires independent decision-making and follow-through while working with physicians and all levels of hospital personnel.
Current RN license in the State of California; BSN preferred
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in an acute care nursing (surgical nursing preferred).
Ability to interact with all members of the surgical team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner.
Computer and Internet skills and experience required
Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred.
Statistical knowledge preferred. Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred
Recent experience in use of Electronic Health Record for clinical documentation required.
Knowledge/ experience with EPIC preferred
