POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent for this position will greet, interview and register incoming patients or their representatives in a prompt, professional and courteous manner to secure accurate and complete information ensuring the patient's care is not delayed and financial obligations are met; collect and reports cash on an accurate and daily basis; verify and document eligibility and benefits for patient's specific payer (s). Additionally, the incumbent for this position will reschedule appointments in accordance with scheduling policy and physician protocol; answer incoming calls on a next-available- representative basis; take messages and provide scheduling information to patients promptly and courteously; and reconcile fee/charge tickets.

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certificate of completion for medical terminology is desired. Work experience in a customer related field, which requires speed and accurate data gathering, excellent and professional demeanor in an atmosphere of changing priorities is required. Previous experience operating multi-line telephone systems is desired. Recent, unassisted working experience with medicade, medi-cal, and private insurance payers, ICD-9 coding, collecting payments, issuing and posting of receipts is required.

Basic telephone etiquette is required. Answers calls in a professional manner. A minimum typing speed of 45 wpm, error free is required. Basic computer experience, 10 key by touch or by sight, and hands on experience with other office equipmentment, including copy and fax machines.
