Sutter Health Ophthalmic Assistant - Fairfield (Part Time) in Fairfield, California
The Ophthalmic Assistant will works with the Ophthalmologist/Optometrist in providing eye care to patients of various ages according to the policy of the individual practice, in accordance with nursing professional standards and medical Foundation policies and procedures. The Ophthalmic Assistant also maintains optical and surgical instruments and supplies, and assists with office ophthalmic surgery as needed.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Education & Experience:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: One year of Ophthalmic office experience required in Visual Fields, Ocular Ultrasound and minor surgery assisting highly preferred. Ocular ultrasound experience preferred.
Ocular terminology, medications and pathology.
Document medical and visual histories, administer eye medications, instruct the patient in care and use of corrective and contact lenses, and perform all the diagnostic tests necessary for preliminary and highly specific eye exams. These include Visual Acuity test, Tonometry, Autorefraction, Visual Field test, Lensometer.
