Sutter Health Pharmacy Technician l - Per Diem, Day Shift in Los Banos, California
Serving Merced County Westside area with 46 care beds, the facility is part of Sutter Health, a not-for-profit organization that exists to maintain and improve the health status of citizens in its geographic area. Memorial Hospital Los Banos provides and promotes effective inpatient and outpatient health care services including 24-hour Emergency Care, Rural Health Clinic, Surgery, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Diagnostics Imaging, and Intensive Care Unit and Physical Therapy.
Assists with training & orientation of new employees. Places & confirms medication orders from suppliers. Assists in filling patient medication orders. Prepares IV piggybacks, additive solutions & other types of medication for injection. Fills and maintains Pyxis stock. Prepacks bulk medications. Types appropriate labels & maintains accountability records. Ability to perform all tasks required for outpatient and inpatient pharmacy operations. Successfully completes all assigned competencies. Able to work with other staff, patients and patient's family members in the course of performing departmental responsibilities. Ability to perform operational support tasks necessary to comply with all regulatory and Joint Commission Standards. Performs tasks and has a high level of proficiency and responsibilities for clinical activities such as medication reconciliation.
- High School Diploma Or equivalent education/experience required to maintain certification through California State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience with computer database management, spreadsheet, word processing and other computer programs preferred.
Pharmacy Technician status for one year or similar experience using like cognitive skills and qualifications preferred.
Licensures and Certifications:
Pharmacy Tech - PHAR, required
Driver License, Valid and in State - DL NUMBER - required
Automobile Insurance - INSURANCE - required
Travel with company provided vehicle to/from Rural Health Clinic as needed for medication deliveries/refills. Must possess valid California Driver’s License and upon request proof of liability insurance.
Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of these skills in group discussions.
Proficient in math, pharmacy calculations and the use of spreadsheets.
Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job
Ability to meet physical and environmental requirements as stipulated on the attached MHLB Employee/Occupational Health Physical, Environmental and Mental Job Factors form is required.
Proficient in conducting medication reconciliation in an 8 hour shift in addition to other responsibilities.
Ability to troubleshoot Pyxis and operational issues related to pharmacy.
Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
