This position provides nursing, clinical and clerical administrative direction to the PREOP, PACU, Surgery, Central Sterile Processing, and Material Management departments of the Center in the absence of the ASC Administrator. The ASC Nurse Supervisor directs and coordinates all clinical and clerical activities, resources and personnel. The ASC Nurse Supervisor leads facility team members in providing optimal patient care and efficient patient flow, taking into consideration the population specific needs for patients at all stages of life.

Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF)is a non-profit, multi-specialty health care organization affiliated with Sutter Health. Based in Modesto, SGMF provides quality medical care, health education and research activities in a five-county area. SGMF's medical staff includes family practitioners, internists and pediatricians, as well as a range of specialist physicians. Services include imaging, nuclear medicine, a health library, health education programs, occupational medicine, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, infertility counseling, and weight management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Must have a valid current RN license to practice nursing in the State of California.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Business or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Current ACLS and PALS certification required

  • Current CPR

  • CNOR strongly desired

Experience:

  • Significant experience working in a multi-specialty OR, such as typically obtained in approximately 5 years is required.

  • Must have OR managerial experience as typically obtained in approximately 3 years.

  • Managerial experience in the ambulatory surgery setting is desired.

  • Requires significant experience in policy & program development, implementation, administration and leadership in Risk Management, Quality Improvement , Infection Control, and Safety

  • Materials management experience is preferred, including application of purchasing processes to order the supplies and equipment required for surgeries being performed at the Center.

  • Requires experience in program/ process development, implementation and administration.

Knowledge:

  • Must have the demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills necessary to tactfully direct the efforts of diverse health professionals to meet patient and physician needs

  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of regulatory, licensing, certification and accreditation (State, CMS, CDC, DEA, OSHA, CLIA, AAAHC).

  • Extensive knowledge of AORN Standards, infection control and sterilization practices is required.

  • Current knowledge regarding instrumentation and equipment utilized for various surgical specialties is required, as is knowledge of the types of surgeries being performed at the Center.

Special Skills/Equipment:

  • Must have leadership skills, along with skills in supervision/ delegation and human relations.

  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communications are required.

  • Must have effective group presentation skills.

  • Must have well-developed team-building and conflict resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in problem identification, analysis and resolution using a scientific approach are required

  • Must be a flexible, creative individual who is open to change and has the ability to effectively handle multiple and at times conflicting priorities.

  • Requires the ability to operate and trouble-shoot clinical equipment.

  • Excellent computer skills are required

  • Adult training skills are required.
