Sutter Health Supervisor, Environmental Health & Safety - Mountain View in Mountain View, California
Under general administrative direction, the incumbent provides overall management, operational support and leadership and develops state-of-the art, effective and efficient programs and best practices that ensure a safe environment and improve the safety and health of employees and patients at all facilities. Responsible for all Environmental Health and Safety programs in compliance with applicable local, state, federal mandates and industry requirements. (i.e., CMS, The Joint Commission, Institute of Medical Quality). May serve as primary contact and liaison with multiple counties regulatory agencies for the numerous facilities and locations pertaining to compliance with all Local, State, and Federal occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations. Serves EH&S educator and resource with managers, employees, and physicians. Active member of Sutter EH&S groups. Formulates, develops, organizes and provides systemic and effective EH&S program training for management, employees, physicians and contractors. - Performs other duties as necessary and adheres to policies/procedures, business standards and practices.
Actively works in support of regulatory compliance assuring that the affiliate maintains full accreditation and compliance with state and federal regulations. Understands specific responsibilities for regulatory compliance in the home department and insures daily requirements for compliance are met.
The incumbent acts as a resource to all standing committees related to the Environment of Care and other affiliate-wide committees to ensure coordination of environmental health and safety issues, effective follow through, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
The incumbent has the authority to intervene whenever conditions pose an immediate threat to life or health or threaten damage to equipment or buildings.
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational health sciences or a related field with 5-10 years experience. Bachelors Degree in industrial hygiene is preferred.
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years experience industrial hygiene, occupational safety and or environmental compliance programs.
Credible experience planning and implementing proactive EH&S programs and policies
Knowledge of hospital operations and industry principles & practices governing environmental health & safety.
Extensive knowledge of applicable legislation governing occupational safety, hazardous materials & wastes including JC Standards.
Exceptional ability to interact with all levels of employees, as well as representatives from external agencies and/ accrediting organizations.
