Job Summary:

Performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during and after surgical interventions under the direction of licensed staff.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited surgical technologists program or extensive experience as a surgical technologist, such as is usually obtained in approximately 10 years.

Required Experience:

Acute care experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current certification as surgical technologist (CST) is preferred for all new hires; BLS-HCP required.

Complexity of Work:

Requires critical thinking skill, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a ever-changing environment and respond appropriately to complex situations.

Knowledge:

Must have demonstrated knowledge of effective English written and communication and basic computer proficiency skills. Access to Protected Health Information: This position has access to protected health information. The protected health information this position can access is all

medical record information. This position requires this patient health information in order to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.

Shifts: Flexible shifts per department need. Standby call/weekends.
