The Clinical Practice Specialist possesses advanced knowledge of federal and state regulations, Health & Safety Codes and community standards. This position contributes to the development of system-wide practice standardization to support the interdisciplinary delivery of consistent clinical care and documentation of that care. The Clinical Practice Specialist uses clinical and critical thinking skills
when participating in development and implementation of clinical education and practice standards. Acts as a liaison with other departments, units and designated medical committees Reports to the Director of Clinical Practice Support.
Education: BSN degree in Nursing, Master's in Nursing preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience in, education and regulatory activities; experience in survey participation on an organizational level (Joint Commission, State, etc); experience in development and implementation of policies and procedures on an organizational level using evidence based practice. Acute care clinical experience required. Knowledge: Familiarity with critical thinking and teaching methods. Advanced knowledge of appropriate local, state, federal and other health care regulations and legal regulations and requirements of specialty. License, certification and/or registration: Current California Registered Nurse License. BLS Certification. Special Skills and/or Equipment Used: Must be proficient in windows applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Outlook; understanding and management of challenging, complex and rapidly changing situations; excellent writing, planning, computer and organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills; exceptional presentation skills; maintaining flexibility in a changing environment; ability to work in a self-motivated, independent capacity essential; ability to effectively present ideas at the administrative level; performs duties in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision or direction; ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental guidelines.
