Sutter Health Coordinator - Quality Improvement (Sepsis-Focused) Full-Time Day in Oakland, California

The Quality & Process Improvement Coordinator oversees, conducts and researches projects and processes that affect patient care outcomes with the focus on enhancing care processes through quality improvement techniques such as PDSA, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Zero Defects, and Six Sigma; in collaboration with the Oncology Clinical Education Coordinator, educates and trains clinical staff on The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, infection control and compliance with regulatory agencies; participates in, oversees and leads committees, task forces, and councils formed to address patient and staff satisfaction; oversees clinical compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations; conducts root cause analyses as needed when directed by the hospital Risk Management/Patient Safety Committee
Education: BS or BA required. BS or MS in Nursing preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Certified Professional Healthcare Quality RN - CN-PH QUAL preferred.
Minimum three to five years prior experience in related health care field, preferably clinical nursing, medical records/information systems, or utilization/risk management is preferred.
Minimum two years experience specifically in health care quality assessment & improvement field, including hands-on experience with clinical department QA&I committee structures and processes
Skills & Knowledge:
Demonstrates knowledge of principles related to quality and performance improvement, current knowledge of JCAHO standards, California Administrative Code, Title 22 licensing requirements, CMS standards, and medical staff peer review processes.
Understanding of audit/study methodology, health care statistics, and automated data information systems as applicable to hospital and medical staff activities. Demonstrated clinical expertise to effectively facilitate evaluation of quality care.
Advanced skills in data management as well as the ability to collect, analyze, and present data to groups and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, facilitate, and lead special projects.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, hospital staff, and external organizations.
Expertise with Microsoft Office applications, report production, PowerPoint presentations
Ability to be aware of surroundings & respond to emergencies/urgent events, possibly by running.
Ability to work in mentally & physically demanding environment.
Ability to problem solve, make decisions and act appropriately.
Communicate in English.
Read and write at college level.
Communicate in a wide range of academic levels – grade school to college. Express ideas clearly.
