The Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, diseases and new procedures as they evolve.



  • Obtained a registry credential of RDCS through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or an RCS through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

  • Graduated from an accredit program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP).

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer-Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE).

  • Over one year of experience or part time equivalent in performing Pediatric Echocardiograms, . (5+ years if position is Sono II).


  • Proficient in the use of digital PACS systems for reporting, measuring and calculations.

  • Develops preliminary reports and identifies critical findings to reading cardiologist.

  • In depth knowledge of IAC and ASE guidelines and work experience at an IAC accredited facility preferred.
