Sutter Health Radiologic Technologist III / CT Technologist - Diagnostic Imaging (Part-time, Nights) in Roseville, California



Provides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients..

Principal Accountabilities

Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.

Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.

Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.



Education, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration

ARRT Registered Technologist, {RT(R)} in good standing required. ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) preferred or eligible to take the ARRT CT registry examination. BLS Healthcare Provider. State Licensure (CRT) is required. CPR and ACLS provider (ACLS within 6 months of hire). Fluoroscopy license as required by state regulations (also to be obtained within 6 months of hire).

Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography.

The following are criteria for taking the ARRT registry exam: 59 procedures in 7 different categories:

A. Head & Neck

B. Spine & Musculoskeletal

C. Chest

D. Abdomen & Pelvis

E. Special Procedures

F. Imaged Display and Post Processing

G. Quality Assurance

H. Documented completion of diagnostic quality procedures according to the following rules:

i Choose a minimum of 25 different procedures out of the 59 listed on the ARRT website.

ii Complete and document a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5

repetitions of each chosen procedure

iii No more than one procedure may be documented on one patient

iv A minimum total of 125 repetitions across all procedures is required.

Broad-based knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology is required. Must be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views. Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients. Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize accordingly.


Previous experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is required. Prior CT work experience in an acute care / trauma facility is required. Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable.


Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
