Sutter Health Reimbursement Accountant in Roseville, California

Description

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for completing accurate, compliant and well documented and supported Medicare and Medi-Cal cost reports. This position completes quarterly and annual OSHPD reports and audits. This position supports Medicare and Medi-Cal intermediary audits, external financial audits and internal audits as needed or directed. This position also supports, on occasion, contractual allowance template maintenance and special projects as needed. This position interacts and communicates with affiliate staff and internal/external auditors.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting required or equivalent combination of education/experience

Experience

Some knowledge and experience with contractual allowances and third party settlements to ensure financial integrity at the facility level preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

Basic knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations affecting institutional healthcare providers including Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement experience

Basic knowledge of healthcare cost reporting, appeals processes, payment systems and compliance for hospital provider types

Basic knowledge of principles and technical methods of reimbursement accounting and financial analysis of healthcare institutions and health systems

Basic knowledge of the Administrative Procedures Act

Basic knowledge of OSHPD quarterly and annual disclosure reports and related accounting and reporting guidelines

Ability to interpret statutes and regulations, CMS guidelines, GAAP, GAAS, professional audit guides and reimbursement principles

Ability to effectively communicate by written and oral means

Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

Proficiency using MS4, EPIC and Lawson report writing
