Sutter Health Ultrasound Technologist II / Echo Tech (General and Vascular) - Diagnostic Imaging (Full-time, Days) in Roseville, California

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ultrasound Technologist II provides ultrasound imaging in two areas of expertise (Diagnostic and Vascular) and patient care services at defined levels to patients.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

  • Implements safety standards to protect to staff and patients.

  • Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

  • May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

  • Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

  • Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, including Licensure, Certification, Registration

  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in good standing, is preferred or eligible to take the registration examination.

  • BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.

  • Additional multiple certification by ARDMS defined specialty areas preferred.

  • Graduate of a ARDMS accredited educational program in ultrasonography preferred.

Knowledge

  • Advanced cross-sectional anatomy, pathophysiology and its effect on normal anatomy; basic knowledge of Obstetrical and vascular anatomy/physiology.

  • Knowledge of electrical safety and infection control guidelines.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in the acute care hospital setting performing sonographic categories of obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal, small parts, neurosonology, and vascular imaging is required.

Skills

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.

  • Must maintain competencies in two ARDMS defined specialty areas.
