Sutter Health Business Relationship Manager in Sacramento, California

The Business Relationship Manager position is responsible for managing Sutter Health's relationships with designated health plan and employer product partners (e.g. Commercial joint venture, Medicare Advantage health plan product and direct-to-employer relationships). The Manager has overall accountability for ensuring Sutter Health's relationships with health plan/employer product partners are successful. The Manager will provide deal support during business development negotiations and will serve as the implementation lead for executed relationships. As implementation lead, will partner with internal and external teams to proactively identify and address critical implementation issues in order to ensure successful deal implementation. This includes establishing, influencing and/or managing internal cross-functional groups such as operations, shared service departments, third-party vendors, as well as the external client relationship with a team of highly matrixed resources to ensure successful implementation of the relationship product. The manager will have on-going responsibilities to maintain operations after the product relationships are operational in accordance with the relationship agreements.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Business, Healthcare Administration, Economics or related field Required Or equivalent education/experience

Master's Business Administration (MBA), Health Services Administration(MHA), Strategic Planning (MScSP) or related field Preferred Or equivalent education/experience

Experience

3-5 years of health system or health plan experience, with deep knowledge of health plan products and operational requirements required.

3-5 years Extensive client management and project management experience with proven track record in meeting project milestones and leading cross matrixed teams required.

3-5 years Strong strategic consulting experience with either a provider or payer required.

Skills and Knowledge

Strong business acumen and exceptional analytic skills with the proven ability to develop healthcare benefit solutions that meet customer-driven business objectives

Demonstrated knowledge of managed care products and California’s Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) and California Department of Insurance (CDI) directives

Thorough knowledge of hospital and provider networks systems and practices

Thorough knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, integrated delivery systems and medical group practices, especially in managed care environment

Excellence understanding of employer benefit/group health program design, business and competitive intelligence data, and employer health care needs and issues

Working knowledge of health plan policies, practices and systems, including documents such as evidence of coverage (EOC), summary of benefits and coverage (SBC), and contracts

Solid understanding of personal health information (PHI) management, including compliance with confidentiality and security polices/procedures related to use, access and disclosure

Thorough knowledge of product development process and customer relationship management (CRM) principles, methodologies and tools, including formal change architectures, models, and frameworks

In depth knowledge of rules and regulations governing health insurance plans and physician group practice and clinic operations

Understanding of and experience with Lean or other process improvement philosophies and methodologies desired

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to energize, mobilize, and influence through effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external constituencies

Superior negotiating and problem solving skills with the proven ability to research, investigate and analyze issues to offer effective solutions

Demonstrated skill in establishing, building and maintaining effective working relationships with executives, physicians, employers, vendors, and other key customers

Proven ability to design and implement plans and strategies that enable the growth of Sutter Health products and services

Strong project management skills as well as the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team

Advanced level of computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as appropriate applications for project management and market research and analysis

Proven ability to interact with, influence and collaborate with internal and external clients at all levels

Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to leverage non direct reports to complete tasks
