POSITION SUMMARY :

The Obstetrical Technician (OBT) functions as a member of the Labor and Delivery (L/D) surgical team by preparing the L/D operating rooms, creating and maintaining sterile fields, scrubbing for surgical procedures and issuing instruments to the surgeons.

Under the direction of a licensed nurse, participates in the patient/ family care and experience through teamwork,

effective communication, basic care skills, and specialized skills in equipment and basic care to serve a defined

patient population

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. BLS-HCP; Certification in specialty area required for some positions.

Experience:

Current nurses assistant experience or outside agency experience in providing care to the specialty population of patients served in the respective area.

Knowledge:

Must have demonstrated knowledge of effective English written and communication, basic computer proficiency and basic dysrhythmia knowledge for specialty tech in critical care area or telemetry monitoring area.

Special Skills/Equipment:

Under the direction of RN/LVN, manages multiple demands in an ever-changing environment.
