Sutter Health *Clinical Manager, Cancer Services in San Francisco, California


PRIMARY PURPOSE: (Position Summary)

Under the direction of the Director of Cancer Services, the Clinical Manager of Cancer Services manages the administrative and clinical functions of the Outpatient Chemotherapy Infusion Center and Radiation Oncology.

The Manager is responsible for the management and development of staff; for planning, directing, monitoring of unit operations; for fiscal management; and ensures that patient care provided is consistent with established clinical standards and that care is provided in a safe, appropriate and cost-effective manner.

SUPERVISION: (Reporting Relations) 18-22 ftes

  • Outpatient Chemotherapy Infusion Center: RNs and Administrative Asst

  • Radiation Oncology: Radiation Therapists, RNs, Clerical Staff (Radiology Support Assistants, Financial Counselor)



A. Current licensure as Registered Nurse or Radiation Therapist in State of California

B. Bachelor's Degree is required

C. Master's in Hospital Administration, Public Health, or related field is preferred

D. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred for nurses


A. Knowledge of medical and radiation oncology services required

B. Knowledge of hospital management


A. Three (3) years experience in Oncology with progressive clinical experience as a nurse or

radiation therapist.

B. Two (2) years previous supervisory or management experience


A. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

B. Excellent organizational, fiscal, and interpersonal skills

C. Ability to prioritize work and to manage several tasks simultaneously.

D. Ability to work in an environment of patient care and illness.

E. Ability to work in a service-oriented position.

F. Ability to work under minimal supervision.

G. A willingness to work as part of the team is required

H. Knowledge of Performance Improvement/Lean Principles
