Sutter Health Hospice Aide - San Jose (AM Shift / Per Diem) in San Jose, California


The primary purpose of this position is to provide personal care to patients in their homes under the general direction of registered nurse or therapist case manager.

This is a Per Diem position that has 4 hour shifts in the morning, up to 5 days per week. Shift start times will vary as well as days of the week and weekends. Typical shift will begin at 6 or 7 am.


Education / Certifications

High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Current California certification as a Certified Home Health Aide. Current BCLS/CPR certification.


Minimum one year experience as a home health aide strongly preferred.


Working knowledge of medical terminology and health care practices is required as well as understanding of universal precautions.


Demonstrate a positive customer service orientation; skill working with diverse groups of patients and co-workers. Ability to solve customer-service related problems for internal and external customers. Ability to recognize the special needs and concerns of diverse groups of patients and others in the home. Ability to communicate with patients and significant others in an effective, mature, and caring manner. Tolerance for body secretions, strong odors, potential exposure to disease, and varied environmental conditions. Must possess a current drivers license, and access to a reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
