The Medical Assistant assists providers by performing duties within the scope of their certification.
Greets and accompanies patients to exam room, obtains and documents appropriate assessment data such as clinical history, vital signs, weight, etc., and documents information into the Electronic Health Record.
Communicates with patients in person or by telephone to discuss issues such as lab reports, patient care instructions, home care or preop instructions, in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Assists physician with minor medical procedures by selection and preparing proper equipment and supplies as directed and according to policies and procedures.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, including Licensure/Certification/Registration
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program
BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
MA certification within 12 months of hire: AAMA, CCBMA, NCCT or AMT
Basic keyboarding and computer abilities
Excellent communication and organizational skills; flexibility
- Minimum of 160 hours in a clinical/back office externship
