POSITION SUMMARY:

The PACU RN is responsible and accountable for planning, directing, assessing and providing nursing care/services in the PACU department. Serves as patient advocate.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plans and provides patient care based on observations, patient’s needs and diagnosis, test results, physician orders and other pertinent information.

  • Evaluates patient’s response to care. Modifies and revises plan as necessary.

  • Collaborates with physicians to provide needed treatment and medication. This includes evaluation of the pre-op patient, pre-op teaching and administration of medications and IV fluids, pre-op shaves, as well as, evaluation of the post-op patient and administration of medications, IV fluids.

Qualifications

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, including Licensures / Certifications / Registrations

Current CA RN License required

Current BLS for Healthcare providers (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required

Experience

Preferred: Bilingual

Two years recent RN experience in an acute care hospital required

2 years recent PACU experience preferred
