Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Coding & Documentation Auditor will audit medical charts and records for coding and documentation compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and guidelines. This includes performing an in-depth review of medical records to ensure that the assigned billing codes (e.g. ICD, CPT, HCPCS, etc.) are supported by clinical documentation and all diagnoses and procedures are coded with the required specificity at the minimum 90% accuracy rate. Employee will be responsible to create a report of audit findings and will work with the Manager on report of audit findings finalization, and communicate his/her audit results with the coding and documentation training staff, the appropriate coding analysts and coding managers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: high school diploma or equivalent; must have at least (1) one year of medical billing experience; must have above average knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint; CPC-A or CPC certificate

PREFERRED: AA degree in Business or Healthcare, or equivalent years of related experience; At least one year of prior coding experience.
