Sutter Health Coding Educator/Coding Analyst III-Coding Training & Auditing-Sunnyvale in Sunnyvale, California

Under minimal supervision, a level III coding analyst is expected to develop, maintain, and present high level coding and documentation education materials concerning CPT, ICD-9 (including HCC/RAF), HCPCS modifiers and government guidelines to clinical and coding staff. Employee will be preliminary reviewer/editor of coding policies and advisories authored by Coding Analyst II's and will work with the Project Manager on document finalization. Employee will perform new MD education and audits, and will be the new MD coding liaison for their 1st six (6) months at PAMF, including floor support. Employee will be responsible for keeping the department SharePoint sites updated with current information. In addition to staff training, employee will "audit the auditor" to help insure that audits are conducted consistently and per PAMF guidelines.

Principal Accountabilities:

Prepare & perform high level presentatiions based on identified coding errors, trends, denials and government payor guidelines to both clinical and coding staff.

Responsible for all new MD orientation coding training, audits and will be primary liaison for new new MD hires during their first 6 months at PAMF. Will work with assigned permanent analyst to ensure a seamless and transparent transfer of MD coding stewardship.

Responsible for ongoing Analyst I & II coding education and staff development including audits, individual tutoring/mentoring, and classroom training.

Initial reviewer/editor for all PAMF coding policy and advisory documents authored by Coding Analyst II's, including the department quarterly newsletter. Will coordinate with Project Manager to finalize draft before sent for review and approval by the PAMF CCC

Qualifications

REQUIRED: high school diploma or equivalent; AA degree in Business or Healthcare or equivalent years of related experience; must be accredited/credentialed through recognized professional organization (ie AAPC, AHIMA)

Must be willing and able to travel to different PAMF sites as needed

PREFERRED: Advanced degree in Business or Healthcare, or equivalent years of related experience; specialty coding certifications (CIRCC, CEMC, etc); teaching credential.Three (3) years experience as a Coding Analyst II.
