Sutter Health Clinical Nurse Educator - Stroke/Sepsis (Full Time-Days) in Vallejo, California
The Clinical Nurse Educator plans, develops, and coordinates educational programs, offerings, and resources designed to enhance skills and competencies related to the care of patients at SSMC. The scope of educational program areas includes orientation and performance assessment of clinical staff, new graduate and specialty training programs, clinical practice inservices, continuing education, and community education. Educational offerings include live programs, distance learning options, self-study modules, and interactive computer-based learning programs. The Clinical Nurse Educator works collaboratively with the Department Director, Education Coordinator and Education Technical Assistant to assure compliance with hospital-wide mandatory training requirements, develop a comprehensive continuing education calendar based on annual and ongoing needs assessments, provide BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP programs, coordinate student clinical preceptorship experiences, and provide community education offerings.
The Clinical Nurse Educator collaborates with the Department Director in creating and promoting a Healing Health Care Environment and with Clinical Resource Specialists in support of clinical guideline development and implementation and Patient and Family Education. The Clinical Nurse Educator serves as consultant to Managers and Directors and Staff of Patient Care Services Departments to facilitate in-service offerings and the availability of learning resources to clinical staff members.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
Current California RN license required.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required.
Masters Degree in Nursing or Health-related field preferred.
At least three years acute care nursing experience, two within the last 5 years required.
Recent experience as a clinical educator preferred or documented evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to produce course materials consistent with standards of professional and patient education.
Experience with Performance Based Development Systems (PBDS) and performance-based education is preferred. Demonstrated experience and skill with patient, family, and community educator preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of education/learning theory and practice
Ability to read, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge of PBDS is preferred.
Advanced professional nursing certification in area of specialty is preferred.
Expert level of computer skills in the areas of word processing (Microsoft Word), professional presentations (Power Point) desired. Proficient in the development of interactive and self-study materials.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
Dynamic and motivating teaching style in individual and group teaching settings required.
Strong organizational and project development skills.
Self-motivated and proven ability to work both independently or effectively as a team with a variety of healthcare specialists.
Effective problem solving skills and ability to concentrate on multiple and varied tasks.
Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision and effectively establish work priorities.
